Nutrition professionals
continually provide the public with nutrition education to promote wellness
and to treat chronic disease. Clinicians counsel individuals and groups
in various settings including hospitals, clinics and community based organizations.
In order to reinforce verbal recommendations, written information on health
and nutrition is routinely given to clients. While the goal of written
material is to provide an accurate take home message to the public, its
effectiveness is often challenged by cultural insensitivity, language and
the inability of the audience to understand written information. (1,2)
