food safety labels to see where your food is made. In the U.S., information
on some foods or beverages that are likely to cause cancer, birth defects,
allergic reactions, or mercury poisoning may not be on food products. Be
aware of where the food you eat has been grown and stored. Only drink safe
water (bottled water or boil water for 1-3 minutes). Laws requiring that
genetically engineered foods and ingredients be labeled are now being reviewed.
In the U.S., hundreds of state laws and regulations, including those relating
to the safety of milk, fish, and shellfish, may be different than in previous
